Truecaller has announced a new feature to its app called 'Truecaller Voice,' a feature that will allow users to make calls over Wi-Fi network or mobile data and not the user's airtime.

Earlier this month, Truecaller was seen testing the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calling service. At first, it was thought that the feature will be made available to premium subscribers alone if it ever surfaces. Truecaller, however, says that the feature will be available to all subscribers (both premium and free users).

Truecaller says users will be able to make 'free, high quality (HD), low latency' VoIP calls over mobile data or Wi Fi network.

Note that you will be able to make calls to your contacts that have Truecaller latest version installed on their device. The caller and the recipient of the call must have their data connection on or must be connected to Wi Fi for Internet access for the call to connect.

For convenience, There's a Truecaller Voice button shortcut in the app for easy access to make VoIP calls. The Truecaller Voice shortcut has been added to in-app locations such as SMS, call logs and contacts.

For now, the calling feature is being rolled out in phases for Android users and will soon be available worldwide to everyone on the platform.

Truecaller is also said to be working on the VoIP feature for the iOS app, though there is no word on when the feature will find its way to the iOS version of the app.
