The US government has extended the temporary general license by another 90 days, allowing US firms to do business with Huawei.
Last week Friday, news from Politico said that the US Department of Commerce was working on a 6-month exemption period for Huawei to be able to do business with US firms within that period.
However, Another report from Reuters said that the Commerce Department was working on a two-week extension, pending the longer (6-months extension) which was being held back by regulations. Instead of issuing the two weeks to Huawei, the Commerce Department gave the new 6-months period.

This license which is being extended for the third time will expire in February 2020. Within this period, Huawei Android device will be able to receive important software and security updates.
Rural telecommunications providers in the US that depend on Huawei equipment will also be able to purchase the Chinese telecom's company hardware and software needed in to supply Internet in rural areas.
"The Temporary General License extension will allow carriers to service customers in some of the most remote areas of the United states who would otherwise be left in the dark," US Commerce secretary Wilbur Ross said.
"The Department will continue to rigorously monitor sensitive technology exports to ensure that our innovations are not harnessed by those who would threaten our national security."
