The messaging company last month successfully tested this feature on its beta version and found it to be working well before dropping an update that supports all kinds of file documents. This development might help WhatsApp retrieve most of its users who abandoned the platform in favor of telegram messaging app which gives users more freedom and less restriction.

This new feature is also available to those using the web client and of course there's a file size limit for each platform. WhatsApp web users can send files of up to 64mb. Android users can send any file type that doesn't exceed 100mb while iOS users can send files of up to 128mb.

Sending files on any of the platform still remains the same. The user is to click on  "document"  from "attach" and select whatever file format that he or she has in mind.
