WhatsApp seems to have disappeared from the Google Play Store, leaving those that want to download and sign up on the world's most popular messaging platform stranded.

The sudden disappearance of the Facebook owned app was first noticed by Twitter user @Nxxtxls who made a tweet about it, and was then confirmed by another user with the user name @Laustiseptiembre
The instant messaging app is no longer appearing on the Play Store search, though WhatsApp for  Business seems not to have suffered the sudden disappearance. Users of the app also seems unaffected by the issues as the functionality still runs well.

Another things is that WhatsApp still appears in the 'Previously installed app' section in the Google Play store, which means the app isn't blacklisted or is completely gone from the Google Play Store.

The issue isn't region based as it seems to affect anyone trying to install the app in any part of the world.

Update:
WhatsApp app has returned back to the Google Play Store and everything seems to be back to normal.
