Fitbit Crosses 50 Million Installs On The Google Play Store

Fitbit tracker app has crossed 50 million installations on the Google Play Store amid the COVID-19 pandemic, joining the like of Google Meet which also reached the milestone last month.

Given Fitbit's hardware popularity around the globe, the 50 million installation figure will be considered low. Take for example, Fitbit sold over 16 million units in 2019 in western markets alone (statistics from Statista shows)
Another here is that many people simply use their fitness tracker or band without even connecting it to the app, especially the elderly. Also, there is the iOS factor which many users..much more than those on Android. iOS users are excluded from this count.

The COVID-19 lockdown around the world stopped public gatherings, people from going to the gym and other sports. The stay at home might have made more people to download the fitness tracker app to stay fit.
