VPN users now to face a fine of up to $545,000 in the UAE? Yes, its true as it sounds. Those found using it could face temporary imprisonment and fines up to Dhs 2Million.
The UAE government issued new laws which prevent anyone including travelers from using VPN to accomplish any task. The law states that anyone found using a Proxy server or vpn could face imprisonment or could be fined between $136,000 and $545,00 (Dhs500,00 and Dhs 2 Million).
The new law regarding VPNs states:
"Whoever uses a fraudulent computer network protocol address (IP address) by using a false address or a third-party address by any other means for the purpose of committing a crime or preventing its discovery, shall be punished by temporary imprisonment and a fine of no less than Dhs500,000 and not exceeding Dhs2 million, or either of these two penalties."Online Privacy is a major issue in todays tech world.
