Apple Workers Busted by Chinese Police for selling users Private Data

 Chinese authorities few days announced that they had uncovered a massive underground operation run by Apple employees selling customers’ personal data.

 According to a statement, the Zhejiang police said that 22 people were arrested in connection of the offense of which 20 of the arrested suspects worked as authorized Apple iPhone distributors. The police said that the suspects stole apple users data from Apple’s database which they later sold between 10 yuan ($1.50) and 180 yuan ($26.50) which the police estimates that they made over 50 million yuan (47.36 million).


 Data sold by these suspects includes Phone numbers of Apple customers, names, Apple IDs, emails and other data.

 Following months of investigation, the suspects were arrested during a coordinated raid organized by the police in Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Fujian province.
