Google Launches YouTube Music Premium Free For South Africans For Some Period

Sequel to Google's launch of YouTube Premium and Music in 13 countries, the Internet giant is try to lure South Africans with months of free YouTube Music Premium access.

According to staff.co.za, new users can try out the Premium service for free for three months after which it'll cost R60 for a month for a single-user plan, or R90 for the family monthly plan which supports up to six users per household.

However, there's also the ad-supported version of the service which is free and doesn't require subscription of any kind.


The premium version has a feature called background listening which allows the YouTube app to be used while the user makes use of other apps or services. Another Premium feature is the Offline Mixtape.

Offline Mixtape is a feature that automatically downloads songs that a user have played frequently so that the user can easily access it even when he or she is offline.

Android users can download the YouTube Music app from the Google Play Store, while iOS users can get it from the App Store or click here to visit the web version.
