Still underway, Google is working on a new operating system project called Fuchsia. Little is still know about the OS at the moment but theres a GitHub page running running where you can find out more about the Fuchsia kernel.GitHub pages description reads: "Pink + Purple == Fuchsia (a new Operating System)"
A glance at some of the published documentation online shows that this is an OS destined for embedding on devices like smartphones and computers. It's billed as an alternative (presumably a free one) to the likes of FreeRTOS and ThreadX
