Dark mode is increasingly becoming popular every day for several reasons; some people want dark mode because it saves battery life, some want it because it isn't harsh to the eyes while others just want it because of the elegant aesthetics.

The demand for Dark mode is strong that app makers are also proving an option for users to be able to switch to dark mode. In fact, Google and Apple also have a dark mode in the test for the next Android and iOS version.

Sometime this year, Facebook announced the dark mode feature for the Messenger app and users of the messaging service applauded Facebook for it. It now looks like Facebook is also working on bringing dark mode to the Facebook app on Android.

According to renowned reverse engineering app, Jane Machun Wong, the social media giant is working on bringing dark mode to the Facebook app for Android.

The above screenshot shared by Wong shows that the feature is still in the development stage and isn't ready for public consumption yet. Wong notes that only portions of the app have been revamped with dark mode so far.

"The Dark Mode appears to be in an early stage of development, understandably. For now, only certain parts of the apps has been reworked to support the Dark Mode. For example, dark text dislaying on a dark background, vice versa," Wong said.

For now, there isn't a real time when the dark mode feature will be released.  The feature might be released sooner than expected, or even take a longer period of time before it gets released to the public.

"With a mobile app of this scale, it could take time to refine the Dark Mode. Be patient! The rough edges will be eventually be refined," Wong added.
