Google Brings Dark Mode To Gmail: Here's How To Activate It On Android And iOS Devices

Google is rolling out Dark Mode for its Gmail app on Android and iOS. Though the search engine giant began to roll out the feature for Android users some weeks ago which was server based, it now says the feature will soon be available for those who are yet to get it.

Android 10 and iOS 13 both comes with a system-wide dark mode can be automatically applied to apps that that have dark theme feature and as well, apps that do not have the dark theme feature but can also be applied on them.

The dark theme feature helps in saving batter life, makes your phone's screen pleasant at night for you to operate and more. Unlike the dark mode that's on Android 9 which doesn't show up everywhere, Android 10's dark mode is much more spread.

Apps that uses the system default theme will automatically adopt the new dark mode when you turn it on. The same will also happen on iOS 13. How to turn on the Dark Mode feature on Android 10

1. Go to Settings
2. Locate Display and click
3. Go to the bottom of the list of settings and toggle on Dark Theme

How to turn on Dark Mode in the Gmail app on Android 10
1. Open the Gmail app
2. Locate and tap the Hamburger Menu located at the top left
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap Settings
4. Click General Settings
5. At the top of the list, click on Theme
6. Now click on Dark, or if you've already set the dark theme as your system default, click on System Default

iOS 13 device:

How to turn on the Dark Mode feature on iOS 13
1. Go to Settings 
2. Locate Display & Brightness 
3. Now tap Dark and the system-wide dark mode will activate

Your Gmail app by default will apply the theme once you receive the update from Google. However, if you are using iOS 13 Light appearance don't fancy a system-wide dark theme mode but still wants the dark theme on your Gmail app, simply follow the below settings

1. Open the Gmail app
2. Locate and tap the Hamburger Menu located at the top left
3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap Settings
4. Click Theme
5. Next click on Dark
6. Now click on Dark, or if you've already set the dark theme as your system default, click on System Default
