Twitter Says Donald Trump's Ban Is Permanent And Forever

American microblogging and social networking service Twitter has confirmed the ban of former US President, affirming that even if Mr. Trump gets re-elected as US president in 2024, he won't be allowed to use the platform ever again.

Trump was banned from Twitter towards the end of his tenure after concerns that his tweets were an incitement to violence, following the U.S Capitol mob attack on January 6 after he refused to accept the results of the 2020 U.S Presidential election.

The social platform also banned over 70,000 accounts for sharing misinformation, including some of his high-profile supporters.

Speaking to CNBC, Twitter's chief financial officer, Ned Segal, made it clear that the ban was permanent wasn't going to be reversed "even if he decides to run for office again."

"The way our policies work, when you are removed from the platform, you're removed from the platform," Segal told CNBC. "Whether you're a commentator, you're a CFO, or you are a former or current public official. Remember, our policies are designed to make sure that people are not inciting violence, and if anybody foes that, we have to remove them from the service and our polices don't allow people to come back."

Making reference specifically to Trump, Segal said: "He was removed when he was president and there'd be no difference for anyone who's a public official once they've been removed from the service."

Twitter wasn't the only platform to have taken action on the former president, sites such as FacebookInstagram, Discord, Snapchat, Shopify, and other also suspended Trump accounts on their platforms. However, so far Twitter is the only one to confirm the permanency of its ban.
