An Australian man has dragged Apple to court seeking compensation after his iPhone X exploded in his pocket, leading to second-degree burns, which Apple, in turn, failed to respond to his inquiries about the problem.

According to 7News, the incident happened in 2019 when Scientist Robert De Rose was sitting in his office when he suddenly felt pain in his leg and then followed by a fizzing sound coming from his pocket.

"I heard a faint pop sound, followed by a fizz and then I felt intense pain on my right leg, so I immediately jumped up and realised it was my phone," he told 7News.

He pulled the phone from his pocket, which was just over a year old only to find black smoke coming out of it.

"I had ash everywhere, and my skin had peeled back," he said.

Due to the explosion, De Rose said that he suffered second-degree burns to his thighs.

After the incident, he reported everything that happened to Apple on multiple occasions but never got a response. Now, De Rose is taking legal action seeking compensation for the damages done.

Another Australian man is also seeking compensation from Apple after he was allegedly left with a burnt wrist after his Apple Watch overheated.
