Facebook Messenger app has crossed 5 billion installations on the Play Store to become the third non-Google app to reach that milestone. This puts it with the likes of YouTube, Google Maps, and Gmail.

So what are the other apps so popular to have achieved this feat? Well, they are no other than Facebook and WhatsApp, which achieved such in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

This achievement shows how much people rely on the Facebook family of apps for communication despite all the controversies surrounding the company.

Facebook has been working on merging WhatsApp, Instgram, and Facebook Messenger app to allow cross-platform messaging. The social media giant has already integrated Mesenger and Instgram chat systems that allows Instagram users to message Messenger user direct from their own app.

You can download Facebook Messenger from the Play Store.
